Center City Saturday returns with FREE family fun, Art Walk 2010 Shopping Spree Raffle

The Galleries of First Friday Art Walk invite you to the Downtown Arts District, 1-5 p.m. Nov. 20, to enjoy a variety of FREE family fun. Explore Make-and-Take Art Activities at Global Fayre, see the artists of Springfield Hot Glass Studio craft Handmade Christmas Ornaments, experience Live Jewelry-making Demonstrations at Good Girl Art Gallery and view a marathon of Family-Friendly Films at Park Central Branch Library.

First Friday Art Walk also launches its 2010 Shopping Spree Raffle with the Nov. 20 Center City Saturday event. Tickets are $2 apiece for a chance to win one of two $100 Art Walk Gift Certificates, good at any participating Art Walk venue. Winning tickets will be drawn on Saturday, Dec. 11, just in time for Christmas. Funds raised from the raffle go to support First Friday Art Walk Inc., a nonprofit arts organization focused on promoting fine art and economic sustainability in the Downtown Arts District.

Also, don’t miss the launch of Springfield’s Festival of Lights at Jordan Valley Park with the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting at 5 p.m., FREE Ice Skating at the adjacent Mediacom Ice Park at 5:45 (skate rental $2.50), and Cardinals Christmas & Fireworks at 6 p.m. with FREE music, refreshments, Santa Claus and more.

Get an early start on the day’s fun with a FREE family-friendly film at 10 a.m. at Hollywood Theaters. Take time for lunch in one of downtown’s fabulous restaurants. Jefferson, Ste. 160, will have live Irish music by Grady and Donna Wilson with Max Massey during lunch service and UK premiership Soccer and Rugby on the pub’s TVs.
