Art Walk is proud to announce a new event debuting on Saturday July 12: Second Saturday. This daytime Art Walk features original art, art demonstrations and special events, but in a daytime, Saturday-stroll atmosphere perfect for art lovers of all ages. Official hours are 1-5 p.m., but many of our venues are open as early as 10:30 a.m. for visitors who want to get a jump on the day. Visitors are welcome to join us for art, demonstrations and activities in 12 participating venues. Among the highlights:

  • Arts & Letters welcomes Dusty Campbell, artist, mystic, magician and one-man carnival show. Dusty will read Tarot cards and do Henna Tattoos 1-5 p.m., plus enjoy Left Undone, the new exhibit by Kate Baird, and fashions by Reyna Lay Design.
  • Visit Fresh Gallery where 3-D Artist Linda Passeri will create a cat sculpture LIVE between 1 and 3 p.m., plus enjoy art by Linda and fellow Featured Artist Alan O’Neal.
  • Get a sneak peak at the History Museum on the Square’s newest exhibit, The Show Must Go On: Theatres in Springfield (official debut Monday July 14!) at the historic Fox Theatre.
  • Love art? Love yoga?  Join artist and yoga instructor Marylou Webb at Park Central Branch Library for a 2 p.m. Art Talk on her July exhibit Explore the Art-Yoga Connection
  • Enjoy fabulous art exhibits at Art Inspired, BookMarx, Nomad, Qdoba Mexican Grill, Springfield Brewing Co., Springfield Pottery, Transformation Gallery and University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center.

Arts & Letters, 214 S. Campbell, welcomes you to Second Saturday with Dusty Campbell! In addition to being a talented up-and-coming artist, Dusty is a mystic, magician and one-man carnival show! Dusty will be at A&L during Second Saturday Reading Tarot Cards and doing Henna Tattooing from 1 to 5 p.m. Our featured artist on the Gallery Wall for July is Kate Baird with her new exhibition Left Undone. This show opens on Friday, July 11. July 11 will also be the debut of Reyna Lay Design’s new line! Reyna won our fashion competition and will have a dedicated clothing rack for her work for the month of July! (417) 830-8186


Bookmarx, 325 E. Walnut St., Ste. 101, presents Pieces and Parts: Artwork by Karlei Baker, who describes her works as “encaustic work, watercolor and found object sculpture.”


Fresh Gallery, 400 W. Walnut, presents Featured Artists Linda Passeri and Alan O’Neal in July, and for Second Saturday 3-D Artist Linda Passeri will be create a new cat sculpture LIVE 1-3 p.m.  Passeri’s works are hand formed and carved ceramic sculptures.  She is best known for her Steampunk Creatures, such as cats and birds.  She adds metal, glass and found objects to her pieces to add character and personality.  … She also enjoys testing the limits of what she can do with clay and working straight out of her imagination, taking the piece from her mind to her hand. Fellow Featured Artist Alan O’Neal is a retired engineer.  He started photography before he can remember, and some of the works offered for sale were taken nearly 25 years ago.  O’Neal grew up in the country, still lives in the country, and has a fondness for nature.  All of these things have an influence on the type of pictures he takes. In 2004, O’Neal started doing Digital Art.  His process is taking a photograph and creating an alternate image out of it. “My computer and mouse are my pallet and paintbrush,” he says.
