Art Walk Art Contest Deadline Extended; Email Submissions Approved!
Based on input from local artists, Art Walk is extending the deadline for its Anniversary Art Contest to Monday Sept. 29 AND will allow images of artwork to emailed to us rather than burned to disc.
“This year is the first year that we have required all images submitted for the contest to be digital. Previously, artists could submit photographic prints of their work.” said Clarissa French, Art Walk coordinator. “What we didn’t consider is that while most people have access to digital photography via phone, they don’t necessarily have a way to burn those digital images to disc. Because of that, we realized we needed to move with the times and offer artists a way to deliver their images electronically.”

Entry forms and images can be submitted via email at ArtWalkNews@gmail.com; entry forms and payments can also be delivered in person to the Springfield Regional Arts Council offices at 411 N. Sherman Parkway; no entries will be accepted after 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29. Any entry that cannot be matched with the appropriate payment will be rejected, so it is recommended that you provide a copy of your entry form with your payment. The entry fee is $10 per artwork entered; a maximum of five works may be entered per artist.
Meanwhile, we have decided to delay our first-ever Art Walk Poster Contest to December. We quietly added the poster contest to this year’s Anniversary Art Contest, but feel that it should be its own freestanding event. We will be targeting the contest to local artists and students of graphic design, with a goal of finding four fantastic posters to promote Art Walk in each of the four quarters of 2015. The entry fee for the poster contest is $5 for one design, $10 for two or more designs up to a maximum of four.
