Art Walk Announces Winners of Anniversary Art Contest

The Grand Prize, including a $250 cash award, goes to “In Good Company,” painted in acrylics and oils by Carole Ogden.

Second Prize and a $100 cash award goes to “Down on the Ground Town,” charcoal on paper by Matthew Luetke.

Matthew Luetke was also the favorite of the Art Walk crowd, winning The People’s Choice Award and a second $100 cash prize.

Third Prize and a $50 cash award goes to “In Your Honor,” a watercolor painting by Carole Ogden.

Six works were also singled out for honorable mention:

Michelle Rosselle received two Honor Awards for “Release of Iniquity,’’ in paint marker and ink pen, and “Elegant Virago Adroit,” in marker ink.

Annie Campbell also received two Honor Awards for “Cuban Heels,” a digital painting print, and “Lily,” acrylic on canvas.

Alan O’Neal received an Honor Award for his digital art “Where Are We Going?”

Janelle Patterson received an Honor Award for her acrylic painting “Heers.”

A huge thank you to all the artists who participated; to Kathie Ryan-Garcia and Yellow Chair Makery for hosting the event; to Kat Allie, Rebecca Arvizu and the amazing OTC Fine Art Department for coordination and hanging of the show; and our outstanding contest jurors: Mitzi Kirkland Ives, Rebecca Miller and Todd Reynolds.

Contest works remain on the gallery wall, and for sale, at Yellow Chair Makery, 314 E. McDaniel, through October.
